Mazzi Shaye

After all my whining and complaining- our little girl has arrived and she was worth it all, as we knew she would be.

Mazzi Shaye Thompson was born on December 16, 2008 at 11:22 am
She weighed 7 lbs. 13 oz. and was 20 inches long.

She has an adorable round little face, long fingers and toes, light brown/blond hair- (long in the back and bald on top) we call it "old man hair" and is practically perfect in every way.

She has the sweetest disposition and won us over instantly. I feel like I could sit and hold her and look at her for hours- and I do.

Ashton and Tera decided they approved of her upon meeting her at the hospital (Though they were a little more interested in the buttons that made my bed go up and down.) It is so amazing to see how an infant instantly fits into the mold of the family and is loved. I now wonder- how did my life ever feel complete without this sweet little one?

We are all doing well and feeling extremely blessed and happy to have this little one in our home. Also grateful that she did decide to come early so that Mommy could stop being an emotional basket case! Thanks Mazzi, you're the best!

False Alarm-

I have been having contractions off and on for the last three days, leaving me sore and tired, but hopeful. Then at 1 am this morning the contractions became more frequent and more painful and I grew excited. We left for the hospital around 2 am with my contractions about 3-5 min. apart. However, while driving to the hospital they became less consistent and by the time we got to the hospital they were about 7 min. apart, and by the time I was hooked up the monitor they were 8 min. apart and I was dilated to a 1-2 (woop-dee-doo). After three days of contractions I was hoping for a little more. They told us to walk around the hospital for two hours and then come back and they would monitor and check again. After walking the halls for an hour, being bored out of our minds, and seeing no change in the the contractions I asked them if we could just leave. They checked me one more time and confirmed my fear- that I had not progressed and we left at 5:30 am. By 7 am I was having no contractions and now, nearly 1 pm I have still not had any. You would think after going through labor twice I would know when I was in labor, but apparently I still have not a clue. However, I am trying not to expect anything until my due date- just so I can cope better mentally with the pregnant situation. And yes- yesterday was my "goal" to have the baby, so a goal is left unaccomplished. Today could be a long one as I got 1 1/2 hours of sleep (we came home to the kids wide awake with our friend watching them) and the kids are sticking Lego's down each others pants and biting each other for fun. Wow! I am sure Matt is also about to fall asleep at his desk! He's such a good husband. When he left this morning he put Aston's preschool stuff by the door, made the kids and me breakfast and put Tera in the bath to play (where she stayed for hours) Still, don't expect me to be too chipper and upbeat these days. Also-don't talk about "Any day now" or "you're getting close." In fact- at this point it is even dangerous grounds to ask "How are you doing?" I feel like I could verbally attack anyone who says the "wrong thing" (Which is everything at this point). On that happy note- Christmas is only 10 days away- can you believe it?!

The North Pole

Last night we took the kids to Dos Lagos to see Santa and go on the Horse Drawn Carriage.
I told Ashton we were going to see Santa, he got very excited and exclaimed

A: We are going all the way to the North Pole?
K: No- Santa is coming to our town so we don't have to go so far.
A: We have to take a train to the north pole!
K: Well, we are just driving our car because it's not that far. You need to put on your jacket.
A: Yea because it is cold at the North Pole!
K: There might be a horse there pulling a carriage
A: No, there will be reindeer there though.
K: What are you going to ask Santa for?
A: A rocket launcher and a thing that chops wood (an ax)

On the horse drawn carriage ride- can't decide if it was worth the hour wait?? But at least we got a decent family picture after several attempts- Thanks Ryan :)

And the kids surprisingly weren't afraid of Santa but liked him- Ashton wasn't even disappointed about the lack of snow, north pole or reindeer. He just wanted to keep playing there. I love Christmas time with kids- they really do make it magical!

My Tera...

I picked out an outfit for Tera to wear, which she rejected. She wanted to choose her outfit and this is what she came up with. I was laughing because it obviously doesn't match- a flowered maroon shirt with a multi colored striped skirt (no maroon though) She didn't understand why I was laughing and said "See, isn't this more beautiful mom?"

Tera is obsessed with Ariel. She carries this little plastic bath toy around everywhere and if she misplaces it constantly asks "Where my Ariel?" It is a cute obsession and she loves taking baths because of this toy. She will stay in the bath for hours- just playing away. She even sleeps with
her Ariel- so cute.

Getting ready for Christmas!

I love getting out Christmas decorations- and this year we got to participate in getting my moms out as well as ours. The kids love decorating Nana's tree with her. Tera was especially fascinated by the snow globes my mom had and insisted that they all be playing music at the same time.

When we got back to our house Ashton insisted that we immediately start getting out our Christmas decorations (because there isn't enough going on with me trying to unpack and get our lives back in order) He too excited to wait and it was pretty cute seeing how excited he was so I let him destroy the house getting all the decorations out.

As you can tell it was quite the messy event- but the kids enjoyed it thouroughly!

The completed project- a festive home :)

Thanksgiving...

As always, we had a great time in Redding visiting family and friends. We wish we lived closer! Some highlights...

Getting ready for the feast (#2) at the Thompsons. Everything was delicious!

Spending time with Trevor and his sweet new wife Sandra. The kids love them! They will make great parents!

Ladder ball-
Grandpa Terry building the smallest "bon fire" ever- just to appease Ashtons interest. They even roasted marshmallows on the pathetic little fire!
Papa and Tera

Bowling with the Thompsons- it was fun watching the kids...

Celebrating Tristain (our nephews) 13th b.day with the Thompson family

Ashton and Grandpa Terry- celebrating Grandpas b.day (He's getting old!)

Mini Vacation

Matt has been training in San Diego for his position with AAA so we went down to stay with him at his motel two weeks ago. They put him up in a nice hotel and the kids thought it was wonderful that the room had cartoons on all the time. (They were also excited to see their Dad)
We went out to dinner together- Applebees
After dinner Matt and the kids ventured over to the hotel pool- but I thought it was way too cold. I stuck to sticking my legs in the hot tub.
The next AM I took the kids to Sea World. There was hardly anyone there which made it more relaxing. We enjoyed wandering around for a few hours before heading back home.

The final countdown...

I am officially beginning the countdown! 28 days until my due date (4 weeks) As most pregnant women however, I have a "goal" in mind my goal is to have the baby December 14th. Who knows why?

I wanted to post pictures of how large my belly is. The top two pictures are taken at my baby shower- after seeing these pictures I realized that anyone who says I look little is lying out the wazoo-and also realized I need to have better posture when sitting.

My friend Hannah and I are due ten days apart- me December 30th, her January 10th (I think) It was fun getting together while I was in Redding. This picture reinforced my beliefs in the baby shower pictures- I am huge that I have horrible posture when standing. Are you sensing a theme?

I wil have to post some pictures of some of the cute stuff I got from the baby shower- what good friends I have! (And talented) You will see what I mean when you see their creations.

Back to life...

Back to reality...

We got back late last night after battling the post-holiday traffic (never again) and entered my home to realize that I have to get back to work. I had such a nice time in Redding where my mom and dad watched my kids every morning while I slept in, where I didn't have to cook food or grocery shop, I didn't have to clean bathrooms (though I probably should have before we left), and where my mom tucked my kids in bed each night. I forgot that it is hard to do those things alone.

I need to go grocery shopping-

Unless someone knows a killer recipe with artichoke hearts, soy sauce, pickles and lemon juice (YUK)

I need to fold the four loads of laundry I washed and unpack our suitcases...

I should do the dishes that are sitting in the sink....

And clean up the toys scattered all throughout the house---

But instead I am going to go to bed and then blog about our Happy Thanksgiving break in the morning.... Good night.

The joys of having a dirt bike...

About once a week the kids will ask Matt to take them on a motorcycle ride. They love riding with their Dad and he seems to enjoy taking them. It is their special time together. The kids sit and patiently wait for the other to come back so that they can have their turn. Tera looks out the window the whole time or asks to go out on the front porch to see if they are back yet.
