Competitive Nature

I was raised in a highly competitive family. It didn't matter if we were playing cards, ping pong, or typing on the computer- we wanted to be the best and the fastest. Apparently, that competitivness (is that a word?) has rubbed off on Ashton.

Tera is in the process of learning to jump. Ashton has been working with her on this for a few weeks. I can often hear him tutoring her in the back yard "Tera, you are not jumping, you are running. Jump high like me Tera. Bring your legs up." When Tera does manage to get her adorable, chubby legs up in the air, I praise her. Ashton can not handle her being praised without me also admiring his jumping abilites. He will then proceed to show me how he can jump higher than Tera can.

Even when I tell Tera I love her, he looks at me and asks "But you love me more?" He has finally settled for the answer that he is my favorite little boy.
One day when the kids were sitting at the table Tera had finished her bowl of cereal without spilling any (a major accomplishment) I complimented her "Wow Tera, you are being very careful." Ashton looked at me and said "Yea, but I am more careful. Tera is just a little careful." There are no bounds to where the competition ends in our home! Tera could have a rough time growing up in this highly competitve enovironment!
